25. California Earthquake Warning System: Los Angeles has fault lines running under businesses, hotels, and homes in District 33. Mexico and Japan both have completely functioning earthquake early warning systems. The California legislature approved such a warning system over five years ago on the condition, among others, that it be a private/public partnership. The bids to construct the system were high, and the federal government at first cancelled its commitment to contribute its share of the costs. Presently, the system is still less than halway finished, with a completion date guestimated for 2021. If elected, I promise to find ways to prioritize making a completely functioning earthquake system a reality.
60. The obvious light in the present administration, has been that the United States has finally joined the other industrialized countries that provide its citizens with subsidized healthcare. If elected I intend to work to replace the Affordable Care Act with Single Payer.
